I have been a professional journalist and copywriter for over seven years. From 2009-2014 I worked at Future Publishing on some of the UK and world’s biggest photography and technology publications. As a technical writer / news reporter for the photography portfolio, I was responsible for content that appeared across TechRadar, Digital Camera, Photography Week, PhotoPlus and N Photo.
Since 2007, I have also been working as a journalist and copywriter for a number of varied and interesting clients. I can turn my hand to most subjects and over the years I have written about subjects including, but not limited to, food, triathlons, craft, technology, marketing, events, recruitment, computing, insurance, personal finance, science fiction, television, film and much more. My portfolio includes Total Jobs, Google, LoveFood, SFX, The Guardian, Wales Business Insider, Mollie Makes and others.
Oh – and in case you’re wondering, I have both an undergraduate degree in Journalism and a Postgraduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism from Cardiff Journalism School. While I was there I learned quite a few exciting things, such as 100wpm shorthand, media law, public admin and how to spot a typo at 100 paces. I’m yet to find a use for public admin, but the rest was pretty interesting.
Take a look below at some of my selected portfolio – if you want to know more information about any of this work, or would like to discuss a writing commission, please get in touch.
Click here to see a full list of articles I’ve written for TechRadar – of which there are over 850. As I was the news reporter for the cameras channel, the bulk of these articles are news stories, but you’ll also find almost 100 detailed reviews of all kinds of cameras, from compacts through compact system cameras and DSLRs. As a freelancer, I still contribute a large bulk of the camera reviews for the channel, along with the occasional news story or feature.
I’ve been lucky enough to write a couple of interesting features for Amateur Photographer – I would love to write more pieces like this.
What Digital Camera?
Amateur Photographer’s sister title at Time Inc, I’ve contributed head to head tests, worked with readers and more.
For Photography Blog, I write camera and associated photographic reviews. Here’s a few recent examples.

While I worked at Future Publishing, I usually contributed at least one review a month to Digital Camera, the company’s flagship photography brand. They looked a bit like this… and I can show you many, many more if you want to see them. Now that I’m freelance, I still regularly contribute at least one of the main reviews each month.
I have contributed to Photography Week in a couple of ways. Mainly, I was often responsible for the Big Review – which included a video – but I also wrote the news pages on numerous occasions. Recently, Photography Week underwent a redesign. My reviews are still featured regularly, and occasionally some of the features that I write for Digital Camera World are repurposed to fit the magazine structure.
I’ve been fortunate enough to contribute to this brand new magazine to hit UK newsstands.
Wales Business Insider
I have been contributing to the Wales Business Insider since 2009, writing about a variety of topics including events, marketing, social media and entertaining clients. These features usually see me conducting interviews with various business people across the country, and sourcing images.
